A young woman from Ontario, Canada went viral when she used her social networks to share details about the time she got a key smashed in her face. Her harrowing experience, published on TikTok, has been viewed over 440,000 times and generated all kinds of reactions.
This incident happened one morning in 2017, when a friend of mine renee lariviere When she asked to give it to him, he threw the object with great force.
The Canadian was on her way to buy food on the street, but was hospitalized following the incident. “I felt pressure, but I thought my face hurt. My friend forbade me to move and started to panic. I really didn’t believe it, so I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror.”he said, according to The Sun.
After that, she was transferred to an emergency room, where she underwent various tests as well as various procedures to remove the object.
“I was scared, I felt like the pressure was constant, it was like severe pressure, like something heavy was on my face. My concern was the eye, I didn’t care about the scar, my concern was whether it I’ll see later.”she added.
Subsequently, a plastic surgeon examined her, managed to extract the key, and closed her wound. The tests carried out revealed that the object was lodged in the nose, a few centimeters from the eyes.

“The doctors were amazed. There were doctors who came to see me from different rooms because they couldn’t believe it. One of them took pictures to show to his students.”The girl pointed.
Years after what happened, Renee was encouraged to share what happened in a TikTok video. In the present, he recalls the incident in detail and assures that he was very lucky.
“Looking at it now, I think there’s no way that could have happened. I think it was pure luck, because nothing really bad happened. Had it hit somewhere else, it could have done a lot more damage.”He concluded.
What to do if a foreign object is stuck in my skin
The Mayo Clinic portal recommends that, in the event that a foreign object appears to be deeply embedded in the skin or muscle, take the following precautions.
- Do not attempt to remove the object. Doing so may cause more damage.
- Bandage the wound. First place a piece of mesh over the object. Then, if it helps, apply clean padding around the object before securely binding the wound with a bandage or piece of clean cloth. Be careful not to press too hard on the object.
Also, seek medical help if:
- The object is difficult to see (such as with clear glass) or does not come out easily (such as a fish hook).
- The lesion involves one eye or is near one eye.
- The wound is deep or dirty and the injured person had the last tetanus vaccine more than five years ago. The doctor may recommend a booster.
