In case you didn’t know, The Idol is Sam Levinson’s new series that promises to be equal to or better than Euphoria. It stars Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd.
All about The Idol’s new series from Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd
Idol explores the world of pop music and the cult phenomenon from an original and provocative perspective. It is written and directed by Sam Levinson, who demonstrates, as in Euphoria, his creative genius and his mastery of audiovisual language.
The story follows Jocelyn (Depp), a rising pop star who falls in love with Tedros (The Weeknd), the leader of a cult that controls a nightclub in Los Angeles.
In addition to the main storyline, it has been revealed that the series will feature a cameo from Alexa Demi (Maddie in Euphoria), suggesting that The Idol and Euphoria share the same universe.
The Idol is a work that promises to reveal the darker and sexier side of Hollywood. In this regard, Rolling Stone published an article with an unknown production source, stating that:
“It’s more than what was seen in Euphoria.”
On the other hand, attendees of this year’s Cannes Film Festival are said to have been shocked by the series, which takes a raw and realistic look at the film and entertainment industry.
Sam Levinson told a press conference that his work reflects the influence of sexuality in American pop culture, especially youth and music.
“I think that’s absolutely true of what almost all pop stars do today.” Levinson mentioned.
