The first time Liliana Rodríguez, general manager of Yves Rocher in Mexico, spoke in front of an audience of more than 500 people, she was nervous. She was scared and tried to stop the voice inside her that told her she would not be able to do it.

Trembling, he took the stage, delivered his speech, and as he came down, he was very satisfied with what he had accomplished. “I knew I had the opportunity to say no and let it go, but I was encouraged because I had everything I needed,” Rodriguez told Business Insider Mexico.

As a leader, she applies the lessons learned from this moment to her own life and encourages the teams under her to not be afraid of failure.

“You have to understand that there are different profiles: some people are more analytical or cautious than others, but the most important thing (to encourage associates) is to have a clear vision and purpose,” he says.

3 questions to overcome the fear of failure

To overcome fear, Rodriguez says he asks himself three basic questions:

  1. What will you get if you do?
  2. What could be worse than this?
  3. In any case, what would be the consequences?

“It’s not easy, you have to work with you every day. Every time you step out of your comfort zone, your fear is unblocked and what used to scare you a few months ago isn’t as dangerous as your mind thinks.” Was,” he says.
