This weekend celebrates love and friendship. Will you be attending this date? A survey carried out by the National Federation of Merchants, Fenalco, with 646 people, was dedicated to checking the rhythm of this festival among Colombians.
The strange thing that stood out from the survey is that 84% of respondents said they would participate and 16% responded that they would not. In summary, there is an increase in interested parties, because in 2022 the result was 79% “yes” and 21% “no”.
“A good sign for bad weather, and although 2023 was a difficult year, today there are more people than last year who are ready to celebrate the day of love and friendship,” the survey of traders emphasized.
How much and how will people spend?
But every celebration needs a budget. Here people were asked how much they will spend on Amor y Amistad. The answer was that 38% would invest up to $50,000, then 40% (the majority) would invest between $50,000 and $100,000, and 22% of those respondents answered that it would be more than $100,000 .
Comparing it with the data of the same survey, but from Amor y Amistad in 2022, there is a slight increase in spending, “but this is due to inflation effects, since the economic complexity of 2023 is still noticeable,” said the president of Fenalco, Jaime Alberto Cabal.
The union leader stressed that traders have high expectations for this year’s celebrations as “trading has been going on for eight months with worrying results, so we are betting on these days when trading will pick up momentum.”
This money is used for various purposes. Firstly, (the majority) 20% said they would spend their budget in a place specializing in the date, 17% would do it in bars, clubs or restaurants, 16% in a supermarket “looking for the gift”, 14% in department stores, 12% online, 9% in catalog sales and 7% in a store or informal business.
What will make the biggest difference in retail?
The survey also asked: What do you usually give as gifts? And the most common answer among people is chocolates and sweets. Overall, 25% of survey respondents said this will be their most important gift, while clothing and shoes are the second option this year with a share of 19%. on the same level as invitations to dinner.
In fourth place for 14% of respondents are costume jewelry and jewelry, while 11% tend to give away a cosmetic product or perfume. Curiously, flowers appear as a sixth option with 10% of the total amount, the same amount as the bonuses of some shops or companies.
