How to add or remove rotoscope filter used in viral TikTok trend?

Tiktok has given another trend to keep its users busy.

One of the most fun aspects of the app are its filters, which allow you to change literally a variety of things.

The platform is now swept by a new viral trend that sees TikTokers using rotoscope filters. If you haven’t tried it yet, let us show you how to add or remove it from your videos.

What is the rotoscope effect?

The Rotoscope filter converts users’ dances into color silhouettes.

The viral trend is attributed to the content creator @icetut on TikTok, who shared a video of himself with a rotoscope edit for the first time on February 11 this year.

TikTok went viral, garnering over 49 million views and reactions from stars like Steve Aoki as he animated the rotoscope effect frame by frame.

According to the follow chain, TikTok decided to convert to a filter due to the popularity of iChat’s videos.

How to add/remove filters on TikTok?

Follow the below step to use rotoscope filter on TikTok:

  • Open TikTok and tap on Discover
  • Using the search bar lookup for “rotoscope”
  • Select Rotoscope under Effects
  • Tap on ‘Try this effect’ option
  • Click record and film yourself
  • Please note: You have to move your head to activate the filter.

To remove the rotoscope filter, here’s what you need to do:

  • You have to record your tiktok by turning on rotoscope filter.
  • Once the video has paused, click on Effects and select the Cancel icon on the left.
  • Filter will be removed from the respective video.

Remember to keep your camera at a distance so that your whole body is captured in the frame because the filter doesn’t work if the camera is too close to you or it focuses only on your face.
