WhatsApp has already innovated in security with security on mobile phone screen lock, the only way to open chats when unlocking the application with security code or facial unlocking. Now they have included a plus in security and privacy and in a very specific way, giving the possibility to block certain chats in a private tab that only you can access.
This new option that came with the latest update of WhatsApp is likely to be ‘Blocking Chats’. The option is already available for both Android and Apple, but if you’ve updated and it’s still not available, don’t worry, they’ll be rolling out to all devices gradually. By blocking them now, you’ll allow them to have the same way as archived chats, but continue with active notifications.
How do you block chat?
To activate it you need to follow the following steps:
– First of all, you have to enter the WhatsApp conversation you are interested in and click on the contact to see the options you have.
– Under ‘Temporary messages’ you will find the option of ‘Lock chats’ which you have to select.
– You will go to another screen and here you have to click on ‘Lock this chat with fingerprint’.
– Once done, it will be sent directly to the new folder available for these conversations.
Where are blocked chats sent?
Chats that we have protected will automatically be sent to the ‘Blocked Chats’ folder, which should appear above the ‘Archived’ folder. By password protecting a chat, it will no longer appear in the general chat list along with other chats, note that this will not affect the receipt of other messages.
Now, to access this folder, you will have to do it with your fingerprint, being the only way to access it and guaranteeing total privacy, only you will be able to see and respond to this chat!
