We’re going to explain how to control the sound of a Windows 11 PC, using both basic and advanced controls. Thus, you will be able to increase or decrease the volume of the operating system or its applications, but also make other advanced settings.
In fact, we have divided this article into two. First we will tell you how to use the basic rules of the Windows container, then I will tell you how to access and use the advanced rules.
Basic volume control
If you want to use the basic volume controls in Windows 11, click the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the screen. This will open a higher volume bar where you can manually adjust the one you want to use. If you click on the speaker icon on the right, you will also have the option to select the output source, sending the sound to another connected peripheral such as headphones.
If you right click on the speaker icon and select Open Volume Mixer option. This will take you to the system settings, where you can configure both the general volume and the specific volume of the applications that you are currently using to output sound.
Advanced options for speakers
There are more advanced settings in the old and long-standing Control Panel that Windows 11 keeps from earlier versions. Open the start menu and type Control Panel to find it. Once inside, click on the Hardware and Sound option, and then click on Sound, always under the Options heading.
It will open a window with connected audio devices, such as your speakers. Here, right-click on the speakers and select Properties from the context menu that will appear. This is what you will also be able to do with headphones or other audio outputs that you want to configure.
This will take you to a new window with advanced controls for your speakers. You will see several tabs, including General, to update your drivers if needed, or Levels one for solid control and space. You can also enter the Advanced Options, where you will have more options such as extraordinary formats, choosing other sound quality, and various other improvements.
In the Levels panel, in addition to the general volume, click on the Balance option if you want one speaker to sound louder than the other. Wow, you can adjust the left or right speaker independently.
Each application is a world
And beyond these general controls, be aware that each application will have its own sound settings. This will allow you to configure many parts of the sound in addition to the volume separately, and play them in different ways. But here everything already depends on the individual options of each application.
