Mortal Kombat 1 is already here and one of its big novelties is the arrival of Jean-Claude Van Damme himself as Johnny Cage’s skin. On this page of our Mortal Kombat 1 guide we will tell you how to play as Van Damme and which editions of the game it is included in:
What do you have to do to play as Jean-Claude Van Damme in Mortal Kombat 1?
Jean-Claude Van Damme is a Johnny Cage skin for Mortal Kombat 1 that is only included in the Premium Edition and Kollector’s Edition of the game, as seen on the official website. This is additional downloadable content available only in these editions. The first thing we need to do is make sure we have the DLC installed: Redeem the relevant code(s) (in the digital versions the code is automatically redeemed and the download is separate from the game):
Once we have made sure that we have downloaded one of these two versions of the game and the Van Damme DLC, in the main menu we enter “Customize” and then “Combatiente”:
Here we choose Johnny Cage:
Inside Colors we should see the skin called JCVD:
We equip ourselves with each of the six skin colors and can now play as Jean-Claude Van Damme in Mortal Kombat 1. Every time we want to do this we have to choose Johnny Cage as a fighter.
We remind you that Van Damme in Mortal Kombat 1 is a Johnny Cage skin and not an independent character. That means every time we want to play as a Belgian actor we have to swap Johnny Cage’s skin for JCVD’s. This in turn implies that Van Damme is controlled like Johnny Cage, as he is still Cage for the purposes of the game and has the same moves and finishers. And of course, if we just want to play as Johnny Cage, we can always undo the change by following the process mentioned before.
