The 2023 presidential and parliamentary elections will take place in Argentina next Sunday, October 22nd.
Persons of Argentine nationality living abroad have the opportunity to choose whether to participate in the elections: they can optionally cast their vote for the positions of President and Vice-President and parliamentarians of Mercosur; also for national representatives and senators corresponding to the district of last registered residence in Argentina.

According to Law 24.007, all Argentines living abroad who meet the following requirements can participate in national elections:
They must be Argentinians by birth or Argentinians by choice and at least 16 years old at the time of the election; or be naturalized Argentines over 18 years old on the day of the election. Have a citizenship document showing the address abroad that corresponds to the jurisdiction of the consulate where you are voting. Do not fall under the disqualifications provided for by national legislation.
In order to vote in the next elections, Argentinians residing abroad must indicate their address abroad on their Argentine ID card. In this way, you will be automatically entered into the register of voters resident abroad and will be able to cast your vote without the need for any additional procedure.
It should be noted that only address change procedures that were registered up to 180 days before the federal election, i.e. in the penultimate week of April, are taken into account.
When and how can the electoral roll for the 2023 elections in Argentina be viewed?
Those Argentines who live in other countries and want to take part in the elections can do so with the digital DNI, the blue DNI booklet, the DNI card (from the blue DNI booklet), the DNI (green booklet), the citizen booklet or the registration booklet. It is important to remember that the passport is not a document that allows you to vote, nor are the documents in progress.
What do I need to know before voting abroad?
Argentine citizens living abroad can only vote in national parliamentary elections. On the other hand, they cannot elect provincial offices (provincial governors and legislators) or local offices (mayors, city councilors, municipal leaders).
Voters voting abroad do not use the same ballot papers as in Argentina, but rather cast their votes using the system commonly known as “single ballot.”
Once the temporary register is opened, citizens living both in Argentina and abroad will be able to check the accuracy of their data online at www.padron.gob.ar.
This information applies to voters who are permanent residents of another country. Argentinians who travel occasionally cannot cast their votes abroad as Argentine law does not provide for voting in transit.
