Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden of the United States, was accused this Thursday of buying a gun five years ago, a time when, he admitted, he was a regular drug user.
Biden Jr. charged with two counts of false affidavit that he was not using illegal drugs at the time he purchased a Colt revolver in Delaware (east).
The son of the president of North America is also being investigated for doing business with other governments, especially Ukraine, during which Joe Biden was vice president for the same term as Barack Obama.
Joe Biden “did nothing wrong”
The White House insists the US president has done nothing wrong, after Republican lawmakers launched an impeachment inquiry against him.
The 80-year-old Democratic president remained silent when asked by reporters about the issue, but his press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, criticized the investigation of his political opponents.
“They showed that there was no evidence, nothing, that he had done anything wrong. The president has done nothing wrong,” he said, noting that the “impeachment” trial, targeting Hunter’s Ukrainian businesses, was based on “baseless accusations.”
“They themselves said there was no evidence. “This is a political trick,” he added.
Biden will “talk to the American people” about his priority, the economy, in a state of the state address in Maryland on Thursday, he settled, without commenting on how the president himself would react to the investigation.
The questioning comes as Biden faces poor poll numbers ahead of a likely rematch with former President Donald Trump in next year’s presidential election.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Republican, bowed to intense pressure from Trump’s right wing in his party and authorized the launch of an impeachment inquiry on Tuesday.
