I-70 in Glenwood Valley closed in both directions

Interstate 70 was closed in both directions Tuesday night due to flash flood warnings in Glenwood Canyon.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced the closure at approximately 8:40 p.m. CDOT doesn’t know when the interstate will reopen.

The closure is between exit 87 in rifle and exit 133 in Dotsero.

Earlier in the evening, a power outage in both directions in the Eisenhower Tunnel briefly closed I-70.

According to CDOT, the bandh took place around 7 pm. The interstate was reopened by 7:20 pm.

In addition, I-70 eastbound was closed for approximately 30 minutes on Tuesday afternoon due to an accident just east of the Eisenhower Tunnel.
