Ian Diaz: US Marshall arrested for sexually assaulting woman to set up Ex-GF in a false ‘rape fantasy’ plot

A deputy U.S. marshal has been indicted this week for allegedly conspiring with his then-wife to appoint an innocent ex-girlfriend as a rape predator and jail her for months.

Ian Diaz, 43, of Brea, California, has been charged with conspiracy to commit cyber stalking, cyber stalking and perjury, the justice department said in a Friday statement.

Ian, wife created fake profiles of Ex-GF to send threatening emails

According to prosecutors, Ian and his ex-wife Angela Diaz, who was not charged but is mentioned as a co-defendant, created a fake online persona in the name of Ian’s ex-girlfriend Michelle Hadley in 2016 and used it to send themselves ‘harassing’. and threatening “messages, including” explicit or implied threats to harm Angela “.

“You deserve nothing more than a life of solitary torture,” reads an email, set out in a BuzzFeed article in which Hadley shared her story. “I have ways to hurt you. There is no place where you will be safe anymore.”

“You may be beautiful, you may be the one he married, but you are still a sinner and should be punished,” read another. “I will make sure you are reminded of your place by force.”

The indictment alleges the couple tried to hide their scheme using fake email accounts, virtual private networks and communicating with each other over encrypted messages.

The Diaz’s placed a Craigslist ad to post sexual assault on Angela

The Diazs used one of Hadley’s many fake profiles to place ads on Craigslist in search of a “rape fantasy” partner for Angela. They placed personal ads inviting interested parties to come to the apartment and engage in sexual fantasy with Angela in an attempt to commit a sexual assault without permission. [Angela] with the other party believing that the sexual encounter would be consensus. ‘

On the same day, Ian communicated with at least one potential contestant before calling the police. According to the indictment, the couple told police they were afraid for their safety, and insisted that Hadley be behind the harassment.

‘At what point is this girl arrested for sending this shit and hiring guys from Craigslist to rape [Angela Diaz], “Ian said in an interview with police. The next day, Ian sent another Craigslist user to lure him to the apartment to further prove that Hadley should be behind bars.

The Diazes also allegedly ‘brought up one or more sexual assaults and attempted sexual assaults’, including one false alarm in which Angela called 911 to report that she had been sexually assaulted by one of the men in her garage and even she has red marks on her neck and chest to make the fake assault look real, which eventually led to Hadley’s arrest. Hadley was charged and jailed for nearly three months.

Hadley and Ian were involved in a property dispute

According to prosecutors, Hadley and Ian were involved in a property dispute in Anaheim when they went out in June 2015, and that was when the Diaz planned to “harass and intimidate her.” Hadley was sentenced to life in prison for the dozens of sex crimes she was accused of, but was later acquitted of the crimes.

When the conspiracy to address Hadley began unraveling in late 2016, Diaz threw his then-wife under the bus, saying she was “solely responsible for the framework” [Hadley], “the indictment states. Angela, 32, was arrested in 2016 and sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges.

Two years after Angela’s arrest, Hadley filed a lawsuit against the City of Anaheim, the Anaheim Police Department and the Diazes, alleging officers initially ignored a mountain of evidence showing the couple set her up (The City settled the case last month for an unknown amount.)

Ian was arrested Thursday and if convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
