New Delhi: A family court in Jaipur has divorced IAS Tina Dabi and her husband Athar Amir Khan. Family Court No. 1 of Jaipur decided their application filed in November last year by mutual consent after granting divorce under Section 28 of the Special Marriage Act.
201 – Batch IAS Topper was married on March 20, 2018 in Jaipur. Soon after, their romance and love story made national headlines. They both said earlier that they fell in love during training.
The All India Hindu Mahasabha called it “love-jihad” and their story became a topic of discussion from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir. It also wrote a letter to Tina’s parents, saying they were proud of her accomplishments, but it was “painful” that she decided to tie the knot with a Muslim.
The right-wing group called on Dabir’s parents to annul the marriage or at least persuade Khan to convert. He said the family would be given full support in returning Athar Khan.
The letter, published on the official website of the Hindu Mahasabha, further said that foreign elements and Muslim extremists were working to propagate “love jihad” in the country and were trying to Islamize the entire country.
Khan, a resident of Kashmir, finished second in the 2015 UPSC civil service exam, and Tina Dobi finished first. Reports about the rift in their marriage surfaced on social media last year after Dabir deleted ‘Khan’ from his nickname.
Later, Khan also unfollowed him on social media platforms. Khan is currently on deputation in Kashmir.
