Idaho student slaying accused spammed one of the victims with Instagram messages, report says

Two weeks before the murder of four University of Idaho students in November 2022, the person accused of the crime may have sent several messages to one of the victims via the Instagram social network.According to a source familiar with the matter.

“He slid into one of the girl’s DMs several times, but she didn’t respond,” the source told People. “Basically, it was just him saying, ‘Hey, how you doing?’ But he did it over and over again.”

The recent indictment comes as details of the case remain under a gag order, and authorities have made few public statements since the suspect’s arrest.

Shannon Gray, an attorney for Goncalves’ parents, said, “Any information that the family collects regarding their relationship with any of the victims will be turned over to the Moscow Police Department.”

Police were previously investigating whether Kohberger had followed the victims before killing them.Court documents say.

A month later, police arrested Kohberger, a 28-year-old graduate student and teaching assistant at Washington State University.

The man was charged with four counts of murder and one count of felony. If found guilty, he could face the death penalty.

Kohberger was captured on December 30 at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania. Likewise, he would have waived his extradition to Idaho, meaning he voluntarily agreed to return to the state to face the charges against him. He was brought back to the state on January 4.

He is due to return to court in June for a hearing in which defense attorneys will challenge the evidence used to obtain the arrest warrant.
