Indian Cricket Team off-spinner bowler Ravichandran Ashwin believes he is always ready to serve Indian cricket. Ravichandran Ashwin has no place in the current squad for the Asia Cup (Asia Cup 2023) and the World Cup (ICC World Cup 2023), but he says he will always be ready for it if he gets a chance.
Ashwin showed his love for Team India
For the 2023 World Cup, three important spin bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, have been retained in the Indian team. Not a single one of these three is an off-spinner bowler. In such a situation, if India needs an off-spinner in the World Cup who can also bat when required, then Ravichandran Ashwin can be a good option.
Talking about it on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin said:
“I have been playing for Team India for 14-15 years. I had my best moments heart. I have a tattoo of Indian cricket around 100. If they (Indian cricket) also need my services tomorrow, I will be ready and give my 100 percent.”
Ashwin further said that
“We are expecting a lot from Akshar Patel at the moment. I think we should give him some time. If we’re missing characters, who will play their roles? Shardul. What do you expect from them? Bowl 5-6 or sometimes 8 overs and take 2-3 wickets.
Team India captain Rohit Sharma believes he needs batting depth and hence plays Shardul Thakur or Akshar Patel at number 8, who can also bat well apart from bowling. Axar Patel got a chance to play in the last game against Sri Lanka and he was the only spinner who didn’t get a single wicket. However, he scored some important runs while batting.
