Iman Schumpert adds another trophy to his Dancing with the Stars collection

Iman Schumpert can now add another champion trophy to his record.

The 2016 NBA champion won Dancing with the Stars on Monday night this season with partner and dance coach Daniela Karagach.

Schumpert’s victory makes him the first NBA star to take home the championship prize for the mirror ball. Most recently, he played for the Brooklyn Nets.

Dancing with the Stars, an outstanding achievement, was reflected in his historic win during his visit to Good Morning America on Tuesday morning.

“It was literally amazing to be a part of Dancing with the Stars – all the people they had before me, and for them even the desire for me to participate in the show, it just … it was the best nod I could have – he said.

Schumpert and Karagach performed two numbers in the finale of the show – cha-cha-cha and foxtrot fusion and freestyle dance.

The couple performed their freestyle, featuring Missy Elliot’s “Lose Control” featuring Ciara and Fat Man Scoop.

Schumpert, who is considered an “underdog” this season, has earned widespread praise for his dancing ability on the show.

His performance last week to Kanye West’s “Dark Fantasy” featuring vocals from his wife, singer Teyana Taylor, went viral on Twitter last week.

The basketball star has also received public support from NBA players, including his former teammate LeBron James, who tweeted clip one of Schumpert’s performances in October.

Taylor shared her excitement for Schumpert’s victory in an emoji tweet on Monday night:
