The South American Football Confederation, through its Medical Commission and Anti-Doping Unit, held an important dialogue regarding the 2023 Prohibited List and process of Therapeutic Use Authorization requests within the framework of CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana.
The activities were developed online to reach members of the medical corps of the clubs participating in the most important club tournament on the continent.
The main objective was to provide information on the list of prohibitions and upcoming changes for 2024 as well as the procedures that clubs must follow to request a Therapeutic Use Authorization for their players.
Among the speakers were Dr. Jose Velos (URU), Dr. Jorge Sarango (PER), Dr. Hugo Martinez (PAR) and Dr. Alejandro Soler (COL), members of the Auto-CONMEBOL sub-commission.
CONMEBOL points to education about the consequences of the use of prohibited substances as the main mechanism of prevention.
These educational talks are part of the activities of the program for the prevention of doping and the promotion of fair play for players and coaching staff of all delegations participating in the various tournaments conducted by the governing body of South American football.
