In Ottawa, masks are still a must.

Masks are not mandatory in most home settings in Ontario.

The Ontario government has lifted a mask on indoor settings, including schools, restaurants, fitness centers and cinemas, until Monday.

Masks are still a must

Ontario government masks are mandatory in the following settings

  • Health care settings
  • Long-term care settings
  • Retirement Houses
  • Collect care settings
  • Shelters
  • Prisons
  • Public transportation


Public transportation

The Ontario government has said it will continue to search for masks in all public transportation and stations until April 27.

Masks are still mandatory on public transportation in Ottawa, including:

  • OC Transpo buses
  • O-train vehicles
  • O-train and transit stations
  • Para Transpo minibuses and taxis


Ottawa Public Health Institutions

Masks are required for all staff and visitors to the following Ottawa Public Health Centers.

  • Vaccination clinics
  • Dental Clinics
  • Sexual health clinics
  • Controlled utility services


Ottawa City Utilities

Staff and visitors are required to wear masks at the following long-term care homes in Ottawa.

  • Carlton Lodge
  • Center d’accueil Champlain
  • Gary J. Armstrong Long Care Home
  • Peter D. Clark Long Care Home

Mask is mandatory in all long-term care homes until at least April 27.


Ottawa businesses that need a mask

After Monday, masks are still mandatory in the following areas of Ottawa:

  • The Cinema Cinema (Vaccine Verification Required)
  • Mayfer Theater
  • Visitors to the National Art Center are required to wear a mask until further notice (Vaccination confirmation required)
  • He said the requirements for the Canadian National Gallery mask will remain in place until the next announcement.


Post-secondary institutions

In Ottawa post-secondary institutions, masks are still mandatory on campus.


Algonquin College Says. For those studying campuses in Ottawa, Perth, and Pembroke, masks are required until the end of the winter.


Carlton University Says. The mask policy will remain in effect until the end of the winter.


University of Ottawa Says. The mandatory mask policy, including exams, will take effect until the end of the summer.


Health care settings

The Ontario government says masks are still mandatory in health care settings.

The Ontario College of Physiotherapists says all physiotherapy practice settings are health care settings.

The college announced on Friday that “physiotherapists should continue to wear surgical masks and patients should continue to wear masks until April 27, 2022.


Masks are no longer needed


As of Monday, masks are not mandatory in most home settings, including

  • Public primary and secondary schools
  • Bars and restaurants
  • Gyms and fitness facilities
  • Stores and malls
  • Grocery stores
  • Banks
  • Movie Theaters
  • Pharmacies


Ottawa City Utilities

The following city of Ottawa does not require masks from Monday.

  • Ottawa City Hall, Customer Service Centers and Counter Services
  • Indoor sports and entertainment
  • Theaters, concert venues, meeting and event venues
  • Ottawa Public Library Branches
  • Ottawa Art Gallery

The city welcomes residents who prefer to wear masks to their facilities.


Museums

According to Engineering, the masks are not mandatory at the Canadian Agricultural and Food Museum, the Canadian Science and Technology Museum, and the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum. Masks are still recommended in all three museums.

Masks are no longer mandatory in the Canadian Museum of Natural History. Officials say the mask is still “highly recommended”.


School buses

The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority says there is no need for masks on yellow school buses.

(Students using OC Transpo must still wear a mask)

Sports venues

Ottawa senators say masks are not required for all senate games and other events at the Canadian Tire Center.

Ottawa Sports and Recreation Teams say masks are not a prerequisite for entering TD. OSEG says “Masks are encouraged.
