The information that is coming out of Edgbaston is that the team management has just finished the team meeting at the ground. And Bumrah and other team members were officially informed about Rohit Sharma’s absence.
It is still not clear whether Rohit tested positive again or not. Significantly, as Rohit was once again tested in the morning and the results were supposed to determine his availability for the match.
Team India camp sources told InsideSport that Rohit Sharma is still in isolation.

India England Edgbaston Test – Jasprit Bumrah Captain of India: The decision was taken after BCCI’s selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma reached Birmingham.
Indian team coach Rahul Dravid had a discussion with Chetan and it was finally decided that Bumrah would lead India.

Who will open for India? India has already injured KL Rahul, the vice-captain. Mayank Agarwal has reached Birmingham as the cover of Rohit Sharma. But it is unlikely that the team management will draft undercooked Mayank in the XI.
There is a good chance for them that wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat or Cheteshwar Pujara will be given the responsibility of opening for India with Shubman Gill at the other end.
