India China Standoff: Marathon meeting in Moldo between India and China, formal statement to be released today

Sanjeev Trivedi, New Delhi: India had a 10th round marathon meeting between Chinese military officials on Saturday. This meeting lasted for about 12 hours. The meeting started at 10 am in the Moldo border area on the Line of Actual Control towards China which lasted till 9:45 pm. In this meeting, military officials of both countries also discussed furthering the process of military withdrawal from areas such as Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang in East Ladakh. A formal statement regarding this meeting can be issued today.

In this meeting, Lieutenant General PGK Menon, who is the commander of the 14th Corps stationed at Leh, is commanding India. At the same time, Major General Liu Lin was present from China, who is the commander of South Xinjiang military.

The 10th round of Corps Commander level talks took place two days after the process of removing Indian, Chinese troops, weapons and other military equipment from the northern and southern end of Pangong Lake. According to the information, during the meeting, in order to reduce tensions in the India region, the emphasis was on military withdrawal from areas like Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang at a faster pace.

Let me tell you that it has been nine months since the military standoff between India and China. After the agreement, both sides have withdrawn their troops from the northern and southern end areas of Pangong Lake. In addition, weapons, other military equipment, bunkers and other construction have also been removed.

In June last year, soldiers of India and China came face to face in the Galvan Valley. 20 soldiers of India were martyred in this conflict. China also suffered in the same clash. For the first time in China, it was officially acknowledged that four of its officers and soldiers had also lost their lives in the clash.
