India, Israel, US, UAE are I2U2, summit next month

US President Joe Biden will host a virtual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his visit to the Middle East from July 13 to 16.

The meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries took place in October 2021 when External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was on a visit to Israel. The US official, briefing on Biden’s visit to Israel, Palestine and Saudi Arabia next month, said, “The visit will also focus on Israel’s growing integration in the region through the Abrahamic Agreement with the United Arab Emirates, Morocco and Bahrain.” ; through deepening ties between Israel, Jordan and Egypt; And an entirely new group of partners – including Israel, India, the United Arab Emirates and the United States – which we call I2U2.

The India-Israel-US-UAE grouping, which met for the first time under a new framework in October 2021, dealt with issues related to maritime security, infrastructure, digital infrastructure and transportation. The Biden administration has launched or upgraded a number of multilateral initiatives from January 2021 including the Quad (India, US, Japan and Australia), AUKUS (Australia, UK and US) and a quadrilateral dialogue with Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
