The outing of fast bowler Malik, who bagged his debut cap on Sunday, was a forgettable one as he conceded 14 runs in a single over without taking any wickets.
Hardik said during the post-match presentation, “It’s great to start the series with a win. For us, as a team, it is very important to start with a win. Very happy with that.”
Talking about Malik, skipper Hardik felt that the rookie pacer could be more effective with the old ball.
“He has been fantastic for his (IPL) franchise (Sunrisers Hyderabad). But I felt, even having spoken to him, he would be more comfortable with the old ball,” the captain said.
Talking about Harry Tector, Hardik said, “Ireland batted brilliantly. We had to go back to our main bowlers.” side game
“Maybe he (Tector) has a full chance in the next game. Some of the shots he played were mind-blowing.”

Chasing a competitive target, India’s Hooda scored 47 runs off 29 balls while Hardik played a 12-ball 24 as the visitors steered the visitors to a seven-wicket victory in 9.2 overs.
India are now 1-0 up in the two-match T20I series, with the second match scheduled for Tuesday.
