One of the priorities of the industrial policy of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism is the promotion and development of technologies linked to the car and the connected vehicle, and thus the adaptation of the Spanish automobile industry to this new situation. The primary one is the Electric Vehicle and Driven Part, which has become a fundamental tool for Spain to become a global benchmark in electromobility and a focus for attracting new investment.
For its part, the Galician Automotive Technology Center (CTAG) is a non-profit foundation for development, research and technological innovation in the automotive sector, closely linked to the different sectors that make up the automotive industry ecosystem and whose mission it is. they contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of automotive companies, they provide assistance to industrial sectors in their modernization and adaptation to new technologies.
To facilitate the adaptation of the automotive sector to new technological changes, the Ministry of Industry and the CTAG have signed a collaboration protocol that lays the foundations for the launch of a network of laboratories and technologically adapted testing and research centers that allow a different vehicle. and coordinating manufacturing companies to test and validate various stages of development of new products and R&D activities, as well as testing and pre-approving them before introducing them to the production and assembly lines first and then to the market.
According to the Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto “Spain wants to play a leading role in the design and development of autonomous and connected vehicles, and this protocol is committed to promoting a model of public-private cooperation that is connected, autonomous, sustainable and safe.”.
For his part, for the general director of Luis Moreno CTAG, this protocol aims to “stand Spain as a European test and validation field for the connected vehicle and the Test in the new model of the industry associated with the design and technology to be connected, autonomous and sustainable vehicles, attracting investment and new projects for companies in the region
