iOS 16 in Public Beta, watchOS 9 and iPadOS 16 too: you can try it now, here’s how to download

iOS 16 hits public beta, which means you can now try out the next iOS version before it’s released later this year.

iOS 16 has reached the public beta stage and in plain English, that means you can download and try iOS 16 right now. Yes, after almost a month since its release, Apple has extended the iOS 16 update to beta testers around the world. This being the first beta, the update could break your iPhone experience or it could work like a charm. So if you want to download it, do so at your own risk. Please note that this is the public beta and Apple has not yet given an exact timeframe for releasing iOS 16 as a stable update for all iPhone users.

iOS 16 brings a few changes to the iPhone this year, the main one being the revamped lock screen experience that lets you customize your widgets and experience. There are some new additions too, all of which we will be testing in the next few days – Psst, some of them are really useful.

Similarly, Apple has also released beta versions of iPadOS 16, watchOS 9 and macOS Ventura.

iOS 16: How do I get it?

Please note that iOS 16 is still in beta and therefore you need to opt into the Apple Beta Software Program to try it out. This comes with its own set of quirks like bugs and broken features. So try at your own risk.

To download iOS 16, you need to ensure that your iPhone supports the update. iOS 16 is compatible with iPhone 8 and newer models, including iPhone SE 2 and iPhone SE 3.

– Go to and sign in with your Apple ID.

-Then select iOS tab and download iOS 16 beta profile.

-Once the beta profile is downloaded, go to Settings and tap on the “Profile Downloaded” notification. Select Install and your iPhone will restart to install the profile.

-After reboot, go to General > Software Update. You will have iOS 16 Public Beta available for download.

-Once the update is downloaded, it will install automatically and restart to boot into iOS 16.

-These steps also apply to iPadOS 16 and watchOS 9. For watchOS 9, you need to perform all steps in the Watch app.

-iOS 16 Beta 1 is a beta version of iOS, which means that there are likely to be bugs and issues that could hamper the daily user experience.

-Beta versions of iOS generally drain the battery faster.
