Before the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), all the franchises have released their respective players’ lists. Some teams have also started exchanging players with other teams. Now just waiting for the auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not announced the date yet for this small auction, but it is believed that it will be organized almost on the day of February 18. Earlier this auction was to be held in the second week of February, but now it will be held in the third week. The new season of the league is to begin in April.
The IPL structure has to be changed from next year and for that a big auction (Mega Auction) is to be held at the end of this year or early next year. This is the last small auction before this. In such a situation, every team has a chance to strengthen itself.
Auction on 18 February, decision on the place remains
All teams had the last date to retain and release players until 20 January. After its completion, now the BCCI has to decide the praise and venue of the auction. Also, which players will be able to make their place in the auction draft, it will also be a matter to be seen. On the question of the auction, the BCCI official told the news agency PTI,
“The auction can be held on February 18. The place for this is yet to be decided. “
Apart from the retention, the teams also have a time till 4 February (trading window), in which all the franchises can trade players among themselves, i.e. a franchise can buy a player from another franchise. Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings have also tried this option.
Will it be organized in India or not?
The goal is not only to set the auction date in front of the BCCI, but also to put a final seal on the venue of the tournament. Board President Sourav Ganguly, however, has repeatedly stressed that every effort will be made to organize it on the home ground. The IPL was held in the United Arab Emirates in 2020 due to the coronavirus epidemic. The successful event of the home series to be played against England from next month will clear the way for the league to be held in India.
