Former Indian Cricket Team all-rounder Irfan Pathan assessed the bowling attack of Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2024 and said that this franchise will once again be the best in the upcoming edition. May be seen struggling.
RCB had released veteran bowlers like Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, David Willey and Wayne Parnell from their squad before IPL 2024. Then in the auction, RCB selected Alzarri Joseph (Rs 11.5 crore), Yash Dayal (Rs 5 crore), Lockie Ferguson (Rs 2 crore) and Tom Curran (Rs 1.5 crore) for the fast bowling attack.
Irfan Pathan, while talking to Star Sports, expressed his opinion on RCB's bowling attack. He said, 'Once again it is going to be very difficult for RCB. RCB feels that they have tried a lot in fast bowling. He has tried swing and some combinations in the form of Harshal Patel. Now he has moved forward towards speed.
The former Indian all-rounder believes that Joseph and Ferguson can prove to be very expensive at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Pathan said, 'Do Alzarri Joseph and Loki Ferguson have control? Their economy will be higher in Chinnaswamy. However, if he is successful in winning the match even with high economy, he will do his job well.
Irfan Pathan also said that RCB did not bet on any leading spinner in the IPL 2024 auction. He said, 'You did not buy the spinner. Hasaranga was sold for only Rs 1.50 crore. He went for a very cheap price. You could buy it again after watching their first season. RCB performed well when they had a good spinner in the middle overs.
Pathan suggested that RCB should have brought in a mystery spinner to compensate for Yuzvendra Chahal and Wanindu Hasaranga. The former all-rounder said, 'Either there is something special in the bowler. You have to bowl with courage on Chinnaswamy's pitch, like Chahal used to do. After this came Hasaranga. He brought something different. I think RCB should have bought the mystery spinner.
