Is it good to drink soda first thing in the morning?

One of the most important decisions of the day is choosing a good breakfast. You have a wide range of options, but what you want most in the morning is a drink. So without thinking much take it because nothing happens for a day. But this gesture can easily become routine. And that’s not a good thing.

Breakfast is often considered the most important meal of the day, as it provides us with the energy and nutrients we need to start the morning off right. Although the emphasis is often placed on meal options, the role of beverages in a healthy breakfast should not be overlooked.

Not good for stomach

Soft drinks, unless they are the zero versions of them, are loaded with added sugars and provide minimal nutritional value. These empty calories contribute to weight gain, tooth decay and an increased risk of chronic disease. In this sense, regular consumption of sugary drinks has been linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular problems and even some types of cancer. By choosing soft drinks as their breakfast beverage, people are unknowingly exposing themselves to these potential health risks.

Also, you have to consider that breakfast, as its name suggests, is the moment when you break your fast for the whole night. The stomach is empty and ready to take in nutrients, so drinking soft drinks early in the morning doesn’t seem like a good idea.

There are many valid options

Fortunately, there are many alternatives to soft drinks that may provide additional hydration and health benefits. For example, water is an essential, calorie-free component of a healthy breakfast. Other options are freshly squeezed fruit juices without added sugar, herbal teas, milk or alternative vegetable milks, such as almond or soy milk. You can also drink coffee, although you have to control a spoonful of sugar. These alternatives provide hydration, vitamins and minerals without the harmful effects of added sugar.

For breakfast to be completely healthy, regardless of the drink you choose, it should contain everything the body needs to provide the fuel it needs to start the day. For this to happen, breakfast should include whole grains, lean protein, fruits and vegetables. This ensures the intake of vitamins, minerals and fiber. These nutrients support optimal physical and mental functioning, help maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of chronic disease.
