Paco Plaza, one of the film directors of fright the most famous Spanish in the industry, is preparing to arrive on Netflix with a film that promises to make the skin of subscribers and that will try to position itself as one of the titles of the year: Sister Death.
The platform of streaming once again chose Iberian audiovisual productions that have proven their success in series from other genres and which is admired by the audience all over the world, as The Money Heist y Valeria among others.
In the case of Sister Death This is the prequel to another Plaza film, Veronica’s possession which was a hit in 2017. The premiere is scheduled for next October 27 and this is the first time that a film by a renowned director will not be screened in theaters first.
Of course, before reaching the television screens, The audiovisual production will be presented between October 5 and 15 at the Sitges Festival, one of the most recognized film events in Europe which, at the same time, is the cultural event that has the most impact on the media in all of Catalonia.
There, Paco Plaza, who also knows how to shine in the cinema with the creepy story told in the trilogy. RECORDED will be in charge of inaugurated the 56th edition of the festival with the screening of his new horror film.
The plot of this new story takes the viewer back to the universe of Veronica the movie that scared the audience in 2017. The story is tentatively set in post-war Spain. a period of poverty, hunger and misery that followed the civil war that lasted from 1936 to 1939.
In this context, The film introduces us to the character of Narcisa, who is the blind nun who appears to Verónica and who is now a young novice who begins to experience supernatural powers. while working at a girls’ school built in an old convent where many paranormal events occur.
With his new found power, Narcisa will face the challenge of investigating the secrets that the ancient construction holds due to a frightening event. that started happening around him.
The film was shot in Valencia, which is Paco Plaza’s hometown. Most of the film’s scenes took place in the Monastery of Sant Jeroni de Cotalba in a town near GandÃa.
Regarding distribution, The main role fell to the actress Aria Bedmar, known for her participation in The silence. The cast was completed with Almudena Amor, Maru Valdivielso, who was already in Verónica, and Consuelo Trujillo. Besides, The film is known for the film debut of many young actors: Sara and Olimpia Roch, Claudia Fernández Arroyo, Marina Delgado and Adriana Camarena.
