Emilio José Baños Ardavín, Rector of UPAEP, in his meeting with the media within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the university and its 2022-2023 Activities Report, expressed his gratitude to journalists for being spokesmen and boxes of resonance of what happens. of the university, emphasizing the importance of their work in communicating the progress, challenges and challenges faced by the institution.
Baños Ardavín emphasized the relevance of UPAEP as a university that connects society and is committed to the development of Puebla and Mexico. He emphasized that the university is at an important stage in responding to the challenges of the current era, marked by the pandemic and the challenges of education, research and innovation.
He discussed two specific topics in the field of education: the model of education and textbooks of basic education, as well as the policy of research and change in the country. Baños Ardavín emphasized the importance of addressing these issues with attention and care, considering the implications for the training of young people and the development of research in Mexico.
In relation to student protests and campus security, Baños Ardavín noted that the university is committed to improving student security inside and outside the campus. Measures are being implemented to strengthen surveillance and work is being done on a “safe neighborhood” model in collaboration with municipal and community authorities.
Regarding the reduction in the budget of CONAHCYT scholarships, the Rector expressed his concern about the impact on students from all higher education institutions, public and private. UPAEP is looking for alternatives to support its students and is strengthening its talent support program.
Regarding the issue of abortion, the Rector expressed his stance in favor of respecting human life from conception to natural death. He recognizes the complexity of this issue and promotes an approach that prioritizes the dignity of the life of the mother and the unborn, as well as the need for policies that accompany women in difficult situations.
The meeting with journalists from the media ended with the commitment of UPAEP to continue contributing to the development of society and to continue working with the academic community and the media to respond to current challenges.
