It’s the Minuteman, the Intercontinental Missile That America Doesn’t Dare To Use So As To Annoy China

Tensions arising in recent days between the United States and China due to the visit of a Democratic Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi for Taiwan Curious has caused side effects of scope.

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s anger with the United States has prompted the North American country to decide to postpone the test of an intercontinental ballistic missile, Minuteman.

The LGM-30 Minuteman is an American nuclear missile of the ICBM type (intercontinental ballistic missilei.e. ‘Intercontinental Ballistic Missile’) ground launch. Currently, it is the only type of intercontinental missile that remains operational with a land base in the United States.


The first test is scheduled for 2025.

The United States Government currently has 450 Minuteman III FE in silos around Warren, Wyoming, Malmstrom, Montana and Minot, North Dakota airports.

In addition to nuclear warheads, these missiles have increased penetration systems such as fission bombs and decoys. The Minuteman III missile (current version) entered service in 1970. Units manufactured between 1970 and 1978 were upgraded to increase accuracy and payload. The USAF intends to have a Minuteman by 2025.
