After a very lackluster last decade in terms of the success of DC Comics films, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be looking to distance his reboot from the bygone era. An era known among fans as the SnyderVerse. It does this through a large-scale reimagining of all of these stories and all of these superheroes. 1) Things should be approached more calmly
One of Zack Snyder’s biggest problems was the pacing of his narrative. After Man of Steel (2013) laid the foundation for the DCEU, Warner Bros. Pictures tried to make the Marvel Cinematic Universe a reality overnight. This led to a hasty narrative construction. The focus was no longer on setting the stage for the story, but rather on getting the Justice League as quickly as possible. The best thing the James Gunn reboot can do is take its time. James Gunn’s reboot should expand that horizon beyond the traditional Justice League characters and delve into the cosmic, mythological and mystical.
4) Support directors, don’t reject them like Zack Snyder
This is one of the biggest complaints from fans of the world of Zack Snyder Warner Bros. Pictures slows or hinders the directors’ vision. While the quality of some of these visions may vary, in some cases the studio intervened mid-production and turned the films into something they were never intended to be. James Gunn should focus on good standalone stories first before putting together a big shared universe. Instead of creating great superhero stories that stand on their own (with a little universe-building), superhero movies have, in some cases, become over-the-top advertisements for what’s to come in that particular universe. .
