Japan will use Israeli autonomous vehicle technology for mail delivery

The technology developed in Israel for driverless vehicles is being adopted by Japan Post. It will use sensors and software provided by Innoviz Technologies to collect mapping information that will eventually guide a fleet of autonomous postal delivery cars in their rounds.

LiDAR system (Radar) Innoviz’s human can “see” better than the driverReducing the chances of errors and accidents.

Japan Post, which manages postal services and post offices for the country’s 125 million people, announced plans to install InnoVisionOne sensors in some of its vehicles at Scrum Ventures’ SmartCityX conference in San Francisco, US.

,Our innovative collaboration with Japan Post Innoviz LiDAR . highlights the versatility of And this is another example of new ways to use LiDAR in smart cities,” said David Oberman, vice president of Asia at Innoviz.

“We are grateful for the resources and support from Scrum Ventures in accelerating the deployment of our InnovizOne Leader sensor to create digital maps and bring value to residents of Japan.”

Japan Post Delivery Vehicles will produce the detailed digital maps that autonomous vehicles require, They will collect information such as changes in roads more buildings with delivery routes.

Innoviz’s solid-state LiDAR sensor and Perception software deliver a full 3D image of a scene beyond the reach of cameras.
