Jason Momoa in ‘Minecraft’ for Warner Bros.

Akaman and Dunn star Jason Momoa is laying out another tent pole with Warner Bros.. Napoleon Dynamite filmmaker Jared Hess directs the project based on the popular video game.

Dune producer Mary’s parents and Roy Lee made the film before she died in 2018, and Jil Mesec was credited as a producer after her death. Executive editors include John Berg, Call Boiler and John Spitts. The video was produced by Mojang Studios in Sweden and was produced by Mojang Lydia Winters and Poo Bui.
Minecraft Launched in 2011, it allows players to use blocks to create structures and worlds. A few years after the game was launched, it reached 100 million users and helped Microsoft acquire Mojang for $ 2.5 billion in 2014.

Warners has been developing a game-based project for years, with Shawn Levy and It’s Always Sunny starring Philadelphia star Rob McLeanny.

Gaming films have been on the rise in recent years, with Francesis launching his 20th century franchise with Ryan Reynolds’Free Guy last year, and Sonic’s success earlier this month.

Momoa and Warners Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be released in March 2023. The film is the 2018 highest grossing 2018 film of all time. Momoa is supported by WME and Edelstein, Laird. Hess has been repeated by UTA and Sloan.
