Nearly 10 years after the series ended, the cast of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ seems to be freeing themselves from the shackles of what they will say.
The famed sitcom is remembered as one of the most famous on television, and its protagonist Josh Radnor (Ted Mosby) recently wrote extensively about the toxic relationship he had with the series and with his character over the years.
Now it’s the turn of Jason Segel, who gave life to his inseparable partner, Marshall Erickson. The actor, who we’ve seen in more mainstream movie titles than Radnor, also had his problems on the sitcom.
“There was a period in my life and career around the last few years of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ when things were going on in film and TV, and everyone was telling me how well it was going and I was very Was sad.” , he confesses.
“And then I got to face why, what’s wrong with this equation? Because I should feel like I got it. (…) I think what I got is that decision to ‘fuck him’ Lena is great, I do whatever I want,’ but unfortunately there’s a whole permissive system where people are like, ‘We don’t let us do what we want,'” he laughs. Good for you, man!” recants the actor at The Hollywood Reporter’s roundtable.
He also admits that seeing the end of a series where he grew as a person and as an actor for ten years isn’t easy: “I didn’t know what I wanted to do next. I really I wondered if I could really be that good.” Enough to cause drama.”
“I accepted a movie called ‘The End of the Tour’ to play David Foster Wallace. The degree of difficulty of not looking like a Saturday Night Live skit, when you put on glasses and a bandana and you’re saying lines , then it was too much. Also, I didn’t have a system of preparation because in comedy you prepare differently”, he humbly recalls.
“The way we did it was a lot of improvisation, and it was rough dialogue parts. And I literally said in my head, ‘What would Edward Norton do?’, I had a dialect coach and I did all these things that I heard you have to
Segel also recently talked about the possibility of her character appearing in the series’ spin-off, ‘How I Met Your Father’, which is currently airing its Season 2.
“I didn’t know that,” he replies about Neil Patrick Harris’ surprise appearance on the new series.
“But those guys changed my life and I’ll do whatever they tell me,” he told ET Canada.
