Some people have this thing where they get older but never wiser.
Joe Barry didn’t have an answer for how to stop the run, but the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator brought the jokes into his Monday morning press conference. Barry made a lyrical reference to Taylor Swift in a response about injured cornerback Eric Stokes.
The Green Bay Packers could get Eric Stokes soon
On Friday, head coach Matt LaFleur said there was hope the Packers could get Stokes back to practice this week. Stokes hasn’t practiced since last season before he suffered a nagging ankle injury that made it difficult for him to walk this spring.
Barry was asked on Monday about the possibility of the defense taking on Stokes. Stokes has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list and will miss the first four games of the season.
Joe Barry makes a Taylor Swift reference
Barry tries to laugh it off, saying it’s a “champagne” problem for the Packers defense to recover Stokes because the cornerback position is stacked.

Champagne Problems is a song on the record EVER said Swift. The pop singer has been a household name in the NFL since he was linked to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Many pundits, coaches, and players have been missing Swift’s lyrics in recent weeks.
Barry’s reference Monday is an odd joke because the Packers have had several critical injuries in the secondary early on.
The Packers defense will be better served with Stokes on the field.
