Juan Carlos Oblitas reviewed the most important moments of his life in ‘La Fe de Cuto’, and he could not leave the time in Belgium. “Blind” went to play in that country in 1980, although his arrival was earlier and could have been a more important club if it had not been a bitter defeat for all Peruvians.

According to Oblitas, during the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, Bruges contacted him to sign him. However, things changed after a 6-0 defeat against the local team.
“Since the 78 World Cup, in the middle of the World Cup, Bruges of Belgium wants to hire me, why? Because Ernest Happel, who was Austrian, was going to be the coach of Brugge, he saw me at the first level of the World Cup and asked to be hired. When Cristal reached the middle of the deal, he was going to receive 200,000 dollars. But when they want to talk to me about the contract, I say, it doesn’t end. The World Cup ended and no one spoke to me because of the 6-0, which was the biggest loss for us,” he said.
Despite this, Oblitas arrived in Belgium, but had to wait 2 years. In 1980 he signed for Seraing, where he played until 1984, and shared a dressing room with his teammate: Percy Rojas.
“Two years later, coach Seraing came to Peru, he came with his wife and an interpreter, they wanted to hire me, I didn’t know there was a club. The owner of the socialist party was a politician and they hired me and I went and lasted four years, he stayed with me and I wanted to stay there. It’s very cold in Belgium but I used it with my family, unfortunately in the fourth year, when we were already in the first grade, in the second year of the first grade, when the team is almost going to cook, we finished in the fifth, we played. “They paid in Belgium, it was a double contract. I spent a lot of time there, there are many people who don’t know when I come back, because I was a log splitter, they owed me money, I met with them, they gave me a part, I keep my part. pass, Lucho Sacarias was the coach in Germany and he wanted to take me, but I did not accept, I returned and finished my course in U”, he added.
