During a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Jude Law revealed the controversial resource he used to bring the late King Henry VIII to life in his new biopic Firebrand.
The British artist confessed to creating a perfume with a pungent odor that provided Henry VIII’s presumed putrid scent, which came from the many ulcers on his feet. Well, according to Law, different accounts confirmed that this position allowed the king to be detected by smell at a considerable distance.

“I read many interesting details about how Enrique could be seen from three rooms away. His leg was rotting very badly. He would cover it with rose oil,” Jude said in his decision-making. Said of Rukh that he had to make himself smelly to make an even bigger impact on his performance.
Likewise, the actor said that, in order to achieve his goal, he had to enlist the help of a perfume expert, who created a personal fragrance that evoked the scent of Henry VIII at the end of his life.
“She knows how to make wonderful smells, but also terrible smells. Somehow, she’s managed to create this extraordinary combination of blood, feces, and sweat,” Law said of the expert she worked with.
For his part, Firebrand’s director, Karim Enouez, said that the stability and power of his star’s stench made a huge impact on the film set.
“When Jude walked on set, he was terrific,” Firebrand said, receiving an eight-minute standing ovation at Cannes for the project.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that an actor has decided to “smell bad” to give more weight to their interpretation, as in 1991 Halle Berry decided not to shower during the entire time she was Till the filming of Jungle Fever movie did not go on. To further emphasize this her role as a woman addicted to crack.
