Kamala Harris gives a clear message in Guatemala: ‘no vengan’

CITY OF GUATEMALA – During his first trip to the post of Vice President, Kamala Harris said that the United States supports the investigation into corruption and trafficking in Guatemala. We also have a clear and frank message for undocumented migrants who hope to read in the United States: “no vengan”.

Harris issued the ad during a trip that was scheduled for a crucial crossroads by a Vice President who agreed with the difficult decision to accede to a Central American procedural migration cycle by means of inversion in a working area over the border.

While President Biden is campaigning for the promise to relinquish some of Donald Trump’s frontier restrictions to allow migrants to seek asylum in the United States front, Harris has intensified the governor’s message that women will cross the border. that, moreover, deberían find their legal visas or protection more about their lands of origin.

He did not hesitate to discuss corruption with the President of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, who has been criticized for injecting officials into fighting corruption and pursuing a political agenda.

“We’re looking to eradicate corruption wherever it exists,” Harris said, adding that the governing body has a special tax. “It has one of the main priorities in terms of the focus that we have had since the president told me to focus on this topic in our region.”

Harris, who claims the presidency has made clear the allegations, called on President Biden to invest in Central America with a view to slowing down the most vulnerable to take the northward journey. Biden has criticized the Republicans and some moderate Democrats in the first months of his mandate by increasing the number of unaccompanied minor crosses on the United States and Mexico fronts.

The Vice President’s collaborators have been intent on distancing themselves from the front of the front line camp and saying they are concentrating on working with the extraterrestrial governors to boost Central America’s economy and create more opportunities for those now considered united.

Harris announced new media in this effort on Monday. Biden’s management is sending national security officials to the northern and southern frontiers of Guatemala to train local officials, a tactic similar to the ones the previous governors used to disrupt migration. The State and Justice Departments of the United States also establish a working group to investigate corruption cases involving Guatemala and the United States and to prosecute Guatemalan taxpayers.

“We have a very honest conversation about an independent judicial power,” said Harris. “We are having a conversation about the importance of a strong civil society”.

Biden’s governor has also issued a plan to invest 48 million dollars in employment programs, equitable living and agricultural negotiations in Guatemala, as well as a quarterly plan and 4,000 million dollars in investment in the region. My recent move to Harris is a decade of private enterprise, between Mastercard and Microsoft, which is compromising on the Central American economy.

But there are dudas about how to insure that dichos state aid programs benefit more than the needy and not only the contractors convened by the United States or the Guatemalan officials.

In 2019, Guatemala will be represented by an anti-corruption panel responsible for the United Nations, known as the Cicig, which is working with Guatemalan tax authorities in cases involving peacekeepers in the country who have a political motivation.

Ricardo Zúñiga, special president of Biden, a Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, describes the anticorrupción Independientes como ‘esfuerzos muy exitososos’. But Harris’ team did not hesitate to say that Guatemala needed an independent entity to investigate the corruption.

“The point is that there is no specific model”, says Zúñiga. “The theme is to support the people within the government, or within the institutions — principally the judicial institutions — that have the law and the capacity to promote their cases.”

In its opening remarks, Harris sought to reach out to potential migrants to look more closely at home while applying for permission to enter the United States and hope to receive a response. Días atrás, its main collaborators have announced plans to open a new center in Guatemala in which the people can be informed about asylum protection or refuge in Central American countries by traveling to the front with the United States.

“The Mayor of the people does not want to take the place where he creates. A su abuela. Al lugar donde rezan. The place where they live is their idiom and their culture is familiar, ”said Harris. “And when the day comes it will be for reasons. It is very difficult to simply satisfy its basic needs ”.

In Chex Abajo, one of the 250-kilometer-long Harris-laden ladders in his speech, Nicolás Ajanel Juárez said that, despite the promises made by various presidential presidents, his community would not be satisfied with his needs.

The Indigenous Peoples of May will meet the difficult tariff that holds the Vice President of the United States. Juárez, one of the local leaders, said that many of his 600 residents had seen a pair of hurricanes with their hogs. The ingresses of the May cultivar do not have their seeds, but the dry season is now even longer due to the climatic change.

Many families here depend on the holidays their families send from the United States. Those who benefit from a better style of living grace the money received from the north, also have large houses of cement and acre, sewn with stars and stadium banners. The principal of the people, llama Ohio debated the number of migrants he found working as gardeners in this state.

“The best series is the help of direct reading in the place of the governess’ work, because here is where there is peace”, says Juárez, who listens to the music that was sung in a ceremony performed in honor of a community vehicle that crosses in the United States and many years ago. “Politicians do not know why they come here to see their proposals and the needs of the people.”

The meeting with Giammattei, Harris was a meeting with a group of women who organized development programs for indigenous communities or capacity for women to acquire bargaining skills.

Recognize the symbolic weight of being the First Vice President and that Guatemala will be the first to travel outside the cargo area. A group of protesters marched in protest of Harris’ visit to the military airfield, a family of women, many of them women, hoping to have Air Force II airstrikes in Guatemala.

“In the medium that can have some impact debited with me in general and even if it is the first, marvelous”, says Harris. “You can be the first person in algo, but only be sure not to be the ultimate”, added.
