Los Angeles police have said that an investigation is underway after a battery report was filed against rapper Kanye West.
LAPD spokeswoman Redina Puentes said the incident that triggered the complaint happened around 3 a.m. Thursday in downtown Los Angeles.
No arrests have been made.
The street where the alleged incident took place is outside Soho West, a members-only club popular among celebrities.
An Instagram video appears West Madonna socializing with boxer Floyd Mayweather and actress Julia Fox hours before the alleged crime.
Footage posted by Hollywood Unlocked owner Jason Lee shows the group listening to music by rapper Drake.
In a statement, the LAPD said: “At 3 a.m. this morning, officers responded to Santa Fe Avenue and Bay Street.
“A battery report was completed with Kanye West as a designated suspect.
“No arrests have been made and the incident is being investigated by our Newton Division.”
It comes on the same day it was announced West will headline 2022 Coachella Music Festival, with Harry Styles and Billie Eilish.
