In episode 21 of the quiz-based reality show, host Amitabh Bachchan welcomes hockey sarpanch Neeru Yadav from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan and Chhavi Rajawat, former sarpanch of Soda village, 60 km from Jaipur, Rajasthan. For a question worth Rs 10,000, both women were given an audio question. The song ‘Mere Angne Mein’ was played and they were asked, “Which of these is the correct audio to sing?”
Amitabh Bachchan got embarrassed after listening to the song ‘Mere Angne Mein’. He asked to stop singing. Big B told the crew: “Oh God, stop it, that’s it.” What to say, I don’t know what option Gyan Nathji wants to send. Provide options. We are very disappointed in your presence. It’s so embarrassing.” The options given are – Director is Singer, Actor is Singer, Actor is Director, and Musician is Director. The contestants guessed the correct answer, which was ‘Actors are singers.’
After hearing the response, Big B said, ‘The actor is a singer and he doesn’t sing well.’ The 80-year-old actor said, “This song is from the film ‘Laawaris’, in which I acted. There is a story behind this song. You see, it is a folk song and is played in villages. It has been heard we have had it since our childhood. My father used to play the dhol and sing this song on Holi. This film is made by director Prakash Mehra. He has made ‘Zanjeer’ and many other films.” Bachchan said, “One day Prakash Mehra came to me and said, ‘Hey Amit, give me this song.’ I asked him what it meant. He said, ‘I want to use it in my film.’ I said, ‘Yes.’ Why not?’.
He said, ‘You sing it!’ I said, ‘I’m a bad singer.’ I don’t sing.’ He said, ‘No. Sing the same way you would sing on Holi. I sang that song with difficulty.” The audience requested and applauded Big B and said ‘Sir, sing please!’, to which he replied “No singing!”. ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 15’ aired on Sony.
