INGLEWOOD, Calif. ( Associated Press) — Patrick Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce for his third touchdown of the game with 31 seconds remaining, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Kansas City Chargers 30-27 on Sunday. Los Angeles and the AFC retained the lead.
Mahomes found Kelce on a short pass on a crossover and Kelce hauled the ball into the end zone for a 17-yard touchdown run that capped off a six-play, 75-yard drive in just 1:15. The Chargers took a 27–23 lead with Justin Herbert’s 6-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Palmer with 1:46 to go.
Herbert and the Chargers had one last chance, but Nick Bolton intercepted a deflected pass to seal the victory for the Chiefs (8-2), who took a three-game lead in the season series against Los Angeles (5-5). Increased edge. atop the AFC West.

Mahomes completed 20 of 34 passes for 329 yards without his top two receivers. But he still had Kelce, who finished with six receptions for 115 yards.

Chiefs rookie running back Isiah Pacheco rushed for 107 yards.
Herbert completed 23 of 30 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns, both to Palmer, who finished with eight receptions for 108 yards. It was the Chargers’ best offensive performance in nearly a month, thanks to the return of receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
