'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan': This Zoya film will completely forget the sadness of 'The Archies'

This is the story of Imad (Siddhant Chaturvedi), Ahana (Ananya Pandey) and Neel (Adarsh Gourav). These three friends understand the changing meaning of love, friendship and relationship in the age of social media. Director Arjun Varain Singh brings this story of Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti to Netflix. In this film the focus is on the pressure to maintain an image on social media. It looks like it’s from a two minute 40 second trailer.

The trailer starts with Imaad (Siddhant Chaturvedi). He is a stand-up comedian. At one point in the trailer, he mocks life on social media. The trailer goes on a pause and we see how Imaad, Ahana and Neel can’t differentiate between their social media life and real life. The three friends see a mirror of their young adult lives in the mirror of social media. This does not make them happy. Can’t get satisfaction. This film deals with young people struggling with internal confusion and disillusionment caused by social media. I mean, we can’t separate the reel and real life.

There are many important moments in this trailer. The trailer is full of Gen-Z references, such as characters taking photos with different filters, stand-up comedy, dating app culture, etc. Zoya and Reema appropriately comment on Kagti’s class. We also see examples of this in films like ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Made in Heaven’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. Looking at the trailer of ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’, it looks like the same commentary is seen here as well. There are some dialogues in the trailer where you are forced to stop and think. Like somewhere Kalki’s character asks Siddhant when he first felt he was funny. Siddhant says about this,

Similarly, in another scene, Vijay Maurya, who plays Adarsh’s father, says, ‘Your generation doesn’t know the difference between need and desire’.

Speaking of the other actors, they seem to fit in here. Adarsh, Ananya and Siddhant seem right for the audience to keep the story in focus.
‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ is produced by Arjun Varan Singh. This is his first film. Although this is the first film directed by Arjun, he also assisted Zoya in ‘Gully Boy’. Zoya Akhtar’s touch is evident in the direction of this film. Siddhant became a stand-up comedian in the film. In that situation, Sapan Verma was brought in as a comedy consultant. Sapan tweeted about it
