Kids and families make creative scarecrows for Chico’s Marketplace Contest

Chico kids and families get their Halloween creative juices flowing when the Scarecrow Making for Scarecrow Contest at Chico’s Marketplace.

Scarecrow makers pick up wooden frames for scarecrows from the market for $5 and add and build materials using many different themes. The scarecrow is on display among Auntie Anne’s and JC Penney and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Voters are encouraged to vote for their favorite between now and October 24 at 6 p.m. Ballots are placed next to the scarecrow display in front of Auntie Anne.

Contestants received a $20 gift card to Chico’s Marketplace stores. Five winners will be chosen by Chico Marketplace Management to receive gift card prizes of $250, $150, $100, $75 and $50.

The Scarecrow will be on display at Chico Marketplace until Sunday, October 31.

“We were overwhelmed with the responses,” said Lynette Myers, marketing manager for Chico Marketplace. “The creativity of the community was amazing.”

The winners of the Scarecrow Contest in the Pumpkin Decorating and Children’s Costume Contest will be announced on October 30th.
