Kiszla: Vaughn Who? They don’t need any stinky wonsters. The Broncos rediscovered their sassy in a 30-16 win against Dallas.

Arlington, Texas – On the way to the glue factory, the left-for-dead Broncos jumped out of the car, got up and danced.

When he walked into the Denver locker room after an unexpected 30-16 loss to Dallas here on Sunday, even buttoned-down Justin Simmons couldn’t contain the yes-ya. The classy Denver defender paused for a heartbeat in an aisle of AT&T Stadium, looked over his shoulder and screamed in my face:

“How bout the Dame Broncos? Huh?”

Un-huh, brother. I hear ya.

All wins in the NFL standings count equally, but some W’s mean more than others. Take a calendar and circle November 7 as the date when the broken-down Broncos not only won their biggest game since Super Bowl 50, but got their sassy back.

Von Miller? There is no problem.

Trading with him was the best thing that could have happened to this team. With Vonster obsessively forgetting how to call, Denver went to Big D and took out Crud from the stunned Cowboys, whose powerful offense didn’t hit the scoreboard until the final five minutes.

“We’re definitely surprised,” Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott said. “They beat us all the way.”

All great comebacks begin with an attitude, not to mention that little bit of belief that defies all logic. Despite a four-game losing streak and so many injuries that it is sometimes difficult to identify defensive personnel without a scorecard, the Broncos have a 5–4 record and are in the running to win the AFC West.

Do you now believe in a team that every sane person in the Broncos country has left?

Well, Uncle Vic and the Misfits believe. What Kind of Man Really Believes? I asked the most passionate player in Denver uniform I knew why he refused to fold.
