Korean pop star Luna gears up for Broadway debut in ‘KPOP’

NEW YORK ( Associated Press) – Korean pop star Luna is set to make her Broadway debut in the musical “KPOP,” and she’s already dreaming of who can be like BTS on the night.

“I would be grateful if they open that night,” Luna told The Associated Press through her translator.

She also wants to show fans and other stars.

“This is New York City, it has its own celebrities and there are audiences who will enjoy it. So, I would love to see New York celebrities as well as Hollywood celebrities,” Luna said.

Luna was presented Wednesday at a musical press event at the Korean Cultural Center in New York.

Luna began her music career as a member of the popular K-pop group f(x) before becoming a solo artist. Her latest single, “Madonna”, was released in September.

Her stage resume includes Korean renditions of “In the Heights” and “Mamma Mia,” and she’s excited to take her talents to Broadway.

“I’ve always loved doing them all since I was a little kid, and I also like to create some routines,” Luna said.

She said: “For this musical, I get to dance when I act, it’s so exciting, and I can’t wait to do it.”

“KPOP” tells the story of global superstars preparing for a special one-night-only concert when a singer’s internal conflict threatens to eliminate one of the industry’s biggest labels.

The Multimedia Experience explores the relentless discipline, raw talent and business ambition behind the international phenomenon.

The musical has a story by Jason Kim and music by Helen Park, who has worked on the show for the past eight years. He said he is excited that the audience will finally get to experience their favorite music genre.

“I know lately a K-pop has really been blowing up and a lot of people like the genre. But when we started writing this music in 2014, I was so curious to the world that I What to see. And I wanted to share it with the world in a language that everyone can understand,” she said.

“I think musical theater is that vessel for people to hear and see other people’s stories and feel emotions. I really wanted the show to be with the genre that I love,” Parks said. said.

“KPOP” begins previews at the Circle in the Square Theater on October 13, with the opening night scheduled for November 20.
