La Jornada: new restrictions on the sale and consumption of tobacco come into force

The tobacco industry believes that the sale of pirated and contraband cigarettes has increased from 2 percent to 20 percent in a few years and is expected to rise even further.

Also, it predicts less collection. For the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) applicable to tobacco, the government received 48 thousand 393 million pesos in 2020, an amount that decreased to 45 thousand 5773 million in 2021.
