LA Marathon route: Sunday street closures affecting motorists

The Los Angeles Marathon runs on Sunday, closing numerous streets and freeway ramps on the 26.2-mile route from Dodger Stadium to Century City.

The race starts at 6:30 am, and most of the 15,000 or so runners will take three to five hours to complete.

The morning is expected to be marked by low clouds and fog, temperatures ranging from minus to mid 50’s and possible light drizzle, according to David Gomberg, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Oxnard. Conditions are expected to improve by mid-morning, and temperatures are expected to approach the mid-1960s by noon, he said.

Those who are not running or watching the marathon should avoid Sunset Boulevard outside of West Hollywood. Runners will head from Dodger Stadium to Sunset from Innes Avenue to Figueroa Street from 4am to 9am. Sunset will also be closed from 4 am to 11:10 am from Echo Park Avenue to Virgil Avenue and from 5 am to 12:45 pm from Highland Avenue. on Doheny Drive.

Lots of many key downtown streets will be closed from 4 am to 10 am or so, including Cesar Chavez Avenue, Broadway, Spring Street, Los Angeles Street, Main Street, Temple Street, Grand Avenue and others.

Since the race does not finish in Santa Monica, but instead will double back through West Los Angeles to Century City, iconic streets such as Santa Monica Boulevard, San Vicente Boulevard, Wilshire Boulevard, Rodeo Drive, Sepulveda Boulevard and Doheny Drive will be closed. before noon.

Streets closed until 5:00 pm include Santa Monica Boulevard – in both directions – from Wilshire to Sepulveda and San Vicente from Wilshire to Salter Avenue.

Route 110 North and South exits around Dodger Stadium will be closed from 3 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., as well as highway 101 north and south exits through downtown and Hollywood from 3 a.m. to noon. … The southbound exits on Highway 405 on Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard will be closed all morning and afternoon.
