La Ribera, La Isla and Embarcadero to host narration and music show ‘A Dangerous Journey’

The Councilor of Citizen Participation, Kilian Cruz-Duane, the Artistic Director of Zarandula, Carles García, and the accordionist, Raúl Jiménez, presented this morning an initiative that is being carried out in Logroño during this Christmas. The narration and music show ‘A Dangerous Journey’ will be performed free of charge for all audiences on 28 and 29 December and 8 January.

The Counselor for Citizen Participation has indicated that “we want to bring this story closer to the public through the production of this show, which integrates Carles García’s oral narration and live music with Raúl Jiménez’s accordion”.

Similarly, Kilian Cruz-Dunne has underlined the intimate quality of this event, “which is based on an event that happened more than a century ago, but whose message and values ​​it transmits, the true epicenter of the work, are present, in the form of teamwork, resistance to adversity or the ability to overcome extreme situations”. Not surprisingly, “one of his main messages is directed at the necessary participation and voluntariness of citizens”, he said.

For his part, the show’s artistic director has indicated that “the piece is based on a book I wrote about Shackleton’s adventure to Antarctica, a journey in which he was stranded in the middle of the ice for two years and Finally saved.” Carles García noted that the show is curious that “it was produced and premiered in 2020, but was put on hold for two years due to the pandemic, and is now being shown again.”

Three ceremonies are planned, all at 12:00. The first will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, December 28, under the pergola of La Ribera Park. The second, on Thursday, December 29 at the Parque de la Isla in El Cubo. Finally, the third will take place on January 8 at the Embarcadero Pier.

The show is approximately 50 minutes long and is a mixture of oral narration by Carles García himself and accordion music by Raúl Jiménez, who interprets old maritime songs. Its creator warns that “it is important to dress warmly, as this is a journey to Antarctica” and claims the adventure through the South Pole includes “men and women wanted for a dangerous journey”.
