The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Rolando Castro, expressed his dissatisfaction with some of the actions taken by the airline Avianca with its users through its social networks.
As the officer explained, he noticed that the company does not even provide free water to its passengers. In addition, its menu is paid only by card when there are older people who do not adopt this type of payment method.
“Many older people traveling on Avianca don’t give a glass of water for free. They offer their menu and you pay with a card. I saw the faces of elderly and extremely polite people who didn’t have cards. I believe that the diversity of their menu should be sold and paid to whoever wants it, ”said Minister Castro.

He also considered the fact that it doesn’t even offer water to its users as somewhat “pathetic”: “Not offering bottled water is the most pathetic thing I can see from a company that doesn’t have cheap water.” There aren’t even tickets,” he said.
Finally he concluded: “I’ll see if I do a management and we collect the water and donate it to Avianca, maybe that’s what motivates them to do it.”
This has been added to the complaint of other passengers who have also complained about misbehavior by the staff and other disagreements with regard to the prices provided by the airlines.
Avianca Airline Responds
The airline responded to Labor’s chief that passengers on board the aircraft can request a glass of water at no cost and that for “effectiveness” they only accept debit and credit cards.
“At the back of the plane, passengers can request a glass of water at no cost, the crew will take care of that. Our new business model has come with a few changes, the menu on board is an option we give to passengers to customize their journey, for the time being transactions only through card, credit and/or debit to be more practical and agile are authorized”. The airline informed about this through its Twitter account.
