Hollywood is one of the strongest industries in the world of entertainment and reaching here is usually the dream of many actors. So, every time a Latino is part of this circle, it’s celebrated, and more so if he manages to get his star on the Walk of Fame.
With great pride and after much effort, thanks to their talent, more and more Latinos have their own star in this iconic place in Los Angeles.
Salma Hayek is one of the most successful women in the American industry. The Mexican actress, businesswoman and producer delivered her speech on the Walk of Fame on November 19, 2021, when she put a lot of emphasis on the racism she experienced right on those streets.
“A few years after we came to the United States, in the 90s, with some friends on this boulevard, a man attacked us with a knife. They ran until two men overpowered the assailant. Why am I telling you this story? Because every time I think of Hollywood Boulevard, it’s what I think of. And the truth is that when I went home that night I said to myself: ‘What am I doing here? Nobody wants me to be here. They almost killed me today,” he lamented, and also recalled the attack in the movie theater: “Mexican, don’t sit in front of me. Go back to your country.” However, thanks to her persistence and pursuit of her dreams, she persevered until she got the recognition she deserved.
Eugenio Derbez experienced an exciting moment on March 10, 2016, with his wife Alessandra Rosaldo and their four children; Aislin, Vadhir, Jose Eduardo and Aitana were decorated. The Mexican comedian, director and producer expressed that he worked hard to fulfill this dream.
Besides being happy for the recognition of her long career, the singer also made history as she became the first Colombian to have her name immortalized on a star in Hollywood in 2011.
“I want to share it with you because of that unbreakable spirit that is characteristic of us Latinos, the spirit that overcomes all difficulties, always with a smile. This is the star for you. I believe we all come into the world with a star, with a talent and with a gift and then dreams are born later,” he said.
